In today’s fast-paced world, people move through life on autopilot, prioritising deadlines over well-being and convenience over consistency. Small compromises like skipped meals, late nights, and sedentary routines can feel harmless in the moment, but they quietly accumulate over time. What seems manageable in one phase can gradually evolve into deeper challenges later, often without immediate warning. Along similar lines, Mumbai-based nutritionist Sanya Wadhera has highlighted how Indian men tend to ignore early warning signs of deteriorating health until it becomes a major problem later on in life.

Sanya Wadhera pointed out that many Indian men fail to recognise how unrelated health issues are deeply connected. From hair thinning in the mid-20s to more serious metabolic concerns in the 30s and 40s, these are not isolated problems but different stages of the same lifestyle playing out over time.

Hair thinning in mid-20s

The nutritionist explained that for many men, the earliest sign appears as hair loss around the age of 25. Most tend to focus on external fixes like investing in expensive shampoos, oils, or serums, without looking inward. The underlying issue often stems from chronic stress, poor sleep, nutritional deficiencies like low iron and vitamin D, and inadequate protein intake.

Belly fat by late 20s

By the age of 28, the focus often shifts to weight gain, particularly around the abdomen. According to Sanya Wadhera, many attempt short-term solutions like joining a gym, only to quit within weeks due to a lack of visible results. The real concern lies in long-term habits such as frequent consumption of processed food, excessive sugar intake, and prolonged sitting.

The next stage often comes to light through routine medical tests, sometimes mandated by workplaces. Reports indicating fatty liver, high triglycerides, or borderline blood sugar levels are usually met with brief concern but little sustained action. She emphasised that this is not a sudden development, but the result of years of unchecked lifestyle patterns, with earlier signs like abdominal fat already indicating deeper metabolic strain.

Medication by 40

By the time men reach their 40s, many find themselves on medication for blood pressure or other chronic conditions, often attributing it to genetics. Sanya Wadhera, however, stressed that these outcomes are rarely sudden or purely hereditary. Instead, they are the cumulative result of years of neglected habits like irregular meals, lack of sleep, minimal physical activity, and delayed health check-ups.

In conclusion, Sanya Wadhera noted that the progression from hair loss in the 20s to serious health interventions later in life is not coincidental. Rather, it reflects the same lifestyle manifesting in different ways over time. She added that the body sends subtle warnings long before major issues arise, which are often ignored or treated superficially.
