Google Pixel 7's Tensor G2 chip: 60% faster in machine learning tasks, better graphics. All you need to know
The Tensor G2 is the next-gen processor custom built for Google's Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Ever since Google released its much-awaited smartphones, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, a lot has been reported over it, especially about its new Tensor G2 chipset.
Google ditched the old chip and went for Tensor G2, which is the next-generation processor custom built for Pixel with the tech giant's advanced machine learning and speech recognition.
However, recent reports suggested that the chip is a 4nm manufacturing process. But as it turns out, the new SoC is actually based on a 5nm process, which was confirmed by a Google spokesperson to Android Authority.
It is still not confirmed if the new Tensor G2 chip is built on Samsung's 5LPE process. While the new Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) may not be as power efficient as a 4nm chipset, it is still a hot topic among tech enthusiasts.
The Tensor G2 comes with two Cortex-X1 performance cores at 2.85GHz. It also comes packed with developments in the graphics department. The graphics processing unit (GPU) used in the Tensor G2 is the new ARM Mali G710 MP07 processor.
Another upgrade to the new chip also makes it up to 60 per cent faster in machine learning tasks such as real-time translations to image and video processing.
Google further claims that the new Tensor G2 chip makes it a lot easier for those relying on voice assistance, making the Pixel 7 series smarter.
At the ‘Made by Google’ launch event held earlier in October, the tech giant launched the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in India. Google launched the Pixel 7 at a starting price of Rs 59,999, while the Pixel 7 Pro is available at Rs 84,999.
The Pixel 7 Pro comes with improved Real Tone and Cinematic Blur. The smartphone flaunts a 6.3-inch display, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro comes with 6.7-inch Smooth Display that intelligently adjusts up to 120 Hz.
