Google doodle marks start of 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

The Google doodle is created around the teams participating in the sporting event.

Google Doodle Kicks Off FIFA Women's World Cup
Google celebrates the eighth edition of the tournament with a colourful doodle. The doodle depicts a collage of characters by guest artists representing each of the participating countries.

Each Doodle will capture the local excitement of the World Cup competition as well as what soccer means to the guest artist personally.

Teams of 24 countries will compete with each other over the next one month. The final match will be held on July 7th in Lyon, France. Four teams will be making their debut at this year's tournament: Chile, Scotland, South Africa, Jamaica.


The opening match will be played between host nation France and South Korea at 12.30 am (Saturday) in Paris.
The official mascot of the tournament is Ettie, the French poussin.
