Nine out of 10 attendees at the recent ET Awards had the same answer to ‘What’s your plan for the rest of the weekend’ — binge-watching their favourite series. So, it only made sense then to ask how they’d have dealt with two of the major economic events in the last 11 months— demonetisation and GST — had they been their favourite character from the series.

While many chose characters from new, ongoing shows, Bharat Puri, MD of Pidilite, went retro in his choice of character. “My all-time favourite character has to be Bhavani Shankar of Golmaal (1979) played by Utpal Dutt. Demonetisation wouldn’t have been a problem for him because he was a simple and honest man — no scope of him hoarding black money. And GST, well, he wouldn’t have understood it altogether,” he says.
