Earlier this year, Netflix officially confirmed that Gatta Kusthi 2 will premiere on the streaming platform after completing its theatrical run. Strong weekend growth at the box office

While the digital premiere is still some time away, Gatta Kusthi 2 has started its theatrical journey on a positive note. According to Sacnilk, the sports-comedy witnessed a significant jump in collections on its second day.

The film earned Rs 5.46 crore gross (Rs 4.75 crore net) on Day 2 after opening with Rs 3.11 crore gross (Rs 2.70 crore net) on Friday. With this, the film's two-day India gross collection has reached Rs 8.57 crore, while its India net collection stands at Rs 7.45 crore. The movie has also performed well overseas, collecting Rs 1.85 crore gross, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 10.42 crore after just two days.

According to the trade tracker, audience response also improved over the weekend. Occupancy increased from 26 per cent on Friday to 38 per cent on Saturday across 2,177 tracked shows, indicating stronger footfalls.

Directed by Chella Ayyavu, Gatta Kusthi 2 continues the story with a refreshing change in perspective. Unlike the first film, the sequel places Keerthi at the centre of the action as she focuses on building her wrestling career.

Meanwhile, Veera embraces the role of a supportive husband, managing household responsibilities while encouraging his wife's dreams. The film explores changing family dynamics, equality and partnership through a light-hearted sports-comedy narrative filled with emotional and humorous moments.

The role reversal forms the heart of the story and gives the sequel a fresh identity while retaining the franchise's trademark blend of comedy and family entertainment.
