The surprising property purchase in Uttar Pradesh by Aamir Khan
While Aamir owns several premium properties, including homes in Mumbai, a farmhouse in Panchgani and a luxurious mansion in Beverly Hills, California, one purchase stands out from the rest.According to a 2012 Times of India report, the actor bought 22 houses in Shahabad, located in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district. The properties had previously belonged to his uncle, filmmaker Nassir Hussain, and other relatives, who were planning to sell them.
Rather than letting the ancestral properties leave the family, Aamir decided to buy them himself. The purchase was driven by emotion rather than investment, as he wanted to preserve his family's roots in the town.
Why Aamir decided to buy the houses
Speaking to Times of India at the time, Aamir explained that the decision came from an emotional connection to his ancestral home. Although he had spent very little time in Shahabad while growing up, he said he still felt a strong bond with the place. The actor shared that when he learned some of his cousins wanted to sell their homes because they had moved elsewhere, he expressed his wish to buy the properties himself so they would remain within the family. Aamir also revealed that he had long dreamed of trying farming someday. He told the publication that the land around the ancestral homes would be ideal for agriculture and hoped he would eventually find the time to visit Shahabad and experience farming firsthand.
The actor also made sure the properties were registered not only in his name but also in the names of his siblings, Faisal Khan, Farhat Khan and Nikhat Khan.
Explaining the decision, Aamir said he wanted all of his siblings to have homes next to one another so the entire family could spend time together whenever possible. He imagined a future where he, his siblings, their mother, cousins and younger family members could gather at their ancestral home for large family reunions.
For Aamir, the houses represented much more than real estate.
Over the years, Aamir Khan has built a reputation for making unconventional choices, both professionally and personally. From taking long breaks between films to carefully selecting his projects, the actor has often preferred meaningful decisions over flashy ones.
Now, fans are eagerly waiting for Aamir Khan's official wedding pictures.
