Garmin Venu review: Smartwatch with good battery life, accurate fitness data tracking
The AMOLED screen smartwatch comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Venu, the new offering from American wearables and smartwatch brand, is Garmin’s first watch with active-matrix organic light-emitting diode or AMOLED screen with several days of battery life depending on usage.
The smartwatch has the standard 43 mm dial size and a 1.2-inch screen with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This is paired with a 20 mm silicone strap.
The screen offers vivid colours and is easy to use indoors and outdoors. Using the screen for navigation is hassle-free, though initially one may find it difficult to work on a small screen. The watch weighs 46.5 grams and is easy on the wrist.
There are two buttons on the right side. One press on the top button opens the activity screen, while a long press displays the shortcut menu. The bottom button opens the settings. The back of the device has a heart rate sensor and a charging port.
For fitness monitoring, the Venu comes pre-loaded with 20 activities to track. You can add more using the app. The watch has 12 animated training workouts for guided and step-by-step workout sessions.
Using the Venu, ther wearer can track sleep, heart rate, respiration, stairs climbed, daily step count, calories burnt and more. During the review, we found the tracking data to be precise.
The watch also offers hydration and menstrual cycle tracking and had a pulse ox sensor to measure blood-oxygen saturation levels. The watch comes with a feature that Garmin calls the “body battery” to track fitness levels throughout the day. The one issue here is the lack of watch face options.
The Venu also boasts of an Always On display mode. The company says the Venu can last up to five days with the Always On display mode off and six hours with the feature on. We tried a mix of both and found that the battery easily lasted three days. With these features and a premium design, the Venu may find many admirers, but all this comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 37,490.
