Team India has been enjoying a winning streak in the ongoing 2019 World Cup, however on Wednesday, the boys in blue suffered a massive blow. Batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who scored an impressive century against Australia on June 9, has been ruled out of the team due to the thumb injury he had suffered during the match. Dhawan suffered a fracture in his left thumb during the match and is in no position to recover on time.

Young wicket keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who had missed making it to the original WC team, has stepped in to cover for his senior and has been approved by the ICC as a replacement in the Indian squad. While fans lay heavy expectations of the 21-year-old, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir stepped in to urge fans to not put too much pressure on the newbie.

Gambhir, who won a seat in Parliament from the East Delhi constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket, took to Twitter to express disappointment while saying that it's not the end of the world.

“Disappointed to know that @SDhawan25 will no longer take part in @cricketworldcup, he looked so much a part. My thoughts are with u brotherman but don’t worry not the end of the world. And best wishes to @RishabPant777. I’d urge that we don’t put any undue pressure on Rishabh,” wrote Gambhir.

Pant, who had made a mark with his game and earned a million fans in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, landed in England before India went against Pakistan on the field. His absence in the World Cup squad had left several fans disappointed, including actor Rishi Kapoor.

Born in 1940, Fearnley had a phenomenal record at school level, but his professional career never took off. He began crafting cricket bats during the winter months to supplement his flagging income as a first class cricketer. A fringe player for Yorkshire, and then Worcestershire, Fearnley began marketing his gear among teammates and contemporaries. By the 1980s, the brand had acquired market dominance, with Ian Botham, Sunil Gavaskar, and Clive Lloyd among the cricketers using Fearnley products. The company currently produces roughly 5,000 bats a year and is popular among players in the county circuit.
