Besides his job as CEO of Aon Hewitt Consulting, Sandeep Chaudhary is also, a marathon runner, an aqua work out and strength training enthusiast. All these activities, he says help him stay fit and perform better at work.
"Running is an ageless activity. It builds my attitude, confidence and will to face daily challenges and live a happy life. You have to be disciplined with your time when you are preparing for a marathon. While running builds your endurance, strength training, aqua workouts, help you go longer, faster and be smarter," he says. Chaudhary recommends taking a balanced approach towards fitness. He shares some tips:
Let the good times roll-
Dial up the fun in your life with friends, kids, music, books, theatre and leisure pursuits. Enjoy your own company and take ownership of your happiness.
Mix cardio, weight training and a sport. Three days of running or cardio, two days of weight training, one day of a sport. Racket sport is less prone to injury and most apartment blocks these days have the facility. It is also easy to find a partner or marker. Be careful if you pick a high intensity and contact sport like football.
Fitness is not just about exercise-
Yoga helps your breathing and flexibility, both are very important for staying fit. Meditation helps you relax, and improve concentration.
Do not underestimate the benefits of stretching and a weekly massage therapy. It builds flexibility, releases tension and restores muscle balance.
