Lovneet Batra, in her post, revealed that the pre-meal drink requires only 2 ingredients, and it helps keep digestion smooth while supporting the gut through the holiday feasting. The ingredients required include: 1 tablespoon of Psyllium Husk (Isabgol) and 1 glass of water. To prepare the drink, first, you have to stir the Isabgol into 1 glass of water. Make sure to drink it immediately before it thickens. As per Lovneet Batra, the drink must be consumed before the heavy festive meals.
3 benefits of Isabgol-water
Weight management: As per Lovneet Batra, the soluble fibre present in Isabgol expands in the stomach. As a result, it delays gastric emptying and keeps you physically full for longer.Controls blood sugar, cravings and overeating: The Delhi nutritionist shared that Isabgol forms a thick gel that slows carbohydrate absorption and, in turn, prevents post-meal spikes and crashes.
Apart from that, Isabgol also triggers satiety hormones (GLP-1) and suppresses hunger hormones (ghrelin), which can prevent you from overindulging in the festive season,
Relieves constipation: Holiday eating can disrupt gut regularity, claimed Lovneet Batra. But the fibre in Isabgol traps water in the colon to increase stool bulk and moisture, keeping digestion smooth and regular.
In conclusion, the Delhi nutritionist shared one tip. She said that since fibre needs water to function, you must drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
