Fans unhappy with Deepika Padukone's self-care brand 82E, call it 'overpriced' & 'basic'

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone turned businesswoman on Tuesday when she introduced her self-care brand 82E (pronounced Eighty-two East).

The actress said that she was thrilled to finally present the brand after 'two years of a relentless effort'. "The joy of building something ground up is truly second to none," she said on Instagram after introducing her new brand.

The brand introduced 'Ashwagandha Bounce' moisturiser and 'Patchouli Glow' sunscreen drops in the inaugural product line. Spearheaded by co-founder Jigar K Shah, 82E's inaugural products are exclusively available on its D2C website - 82e.com.


The fans, excited to explore her new brand, immediately rushed to the website to return empty-handed. The sunscreen is priced at Rs 1,800, and the moisturiser costs Rs 2,700.

Disappointed fans took to Twitter to criticise the expensive price tag.





While many were busy complaining about the price tag, some claimed that actress Katrina Kaif did a better job with her affordable skincare brand Kay. They also said that her skincare products were as expensive as Fenty or Huda Beauty products.




A set of people didn't shy away from calling Padukone's skincare products impractical and inadequate.


A user even pointed out that the actress only associates herself with luxury brands.


Some even supported the actress on social.





According to the company, the inaugural skincare line has been formulated by in-house experts - who have tested Indian ingredients and scientific compound(s) to create the products.

Two days after the launch, Padukone jetted off to start the shooting of her upcoming aerial action thriller film 'Fighter', alongside Hrithik Roshan, on Thursday morning.

The 'Piku' actor slayed in the lady-boss look as she donned a black turtleneck paired up with an oversized black blazer. She matched her outfit with white sweatpants and accessorised her look with black sunglasses and combat boots.

Recently, Roshan announced that the cast and crew of the movie had kickstarted the shooting of the film.

Besides Padukone and Roshan, the film also stars Anil Kapoor in the lead role. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it is touted to be India's first aerial action thriller.

'Fighter' is all set to hit the theatres on January 25, 2024. It marks the first on-screen collaboration of the B-town stars.

Padukone will also be seen in director Siddharth Anand's next action thriller film 'Pathaan', opposite Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. The film is slated to release on January 25, 2023.

She also has a pan-India film 'Project K' with south actor Prabhas and 'The Intern' alongside Amitabh Bachchan in her kitty.
