Every time 'Wanted' actor Salman Khan went to jail

Earlier, the actor has served 18 days - over 9 years - in prison for the blackbuck killing.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has spent two nights at the Jodhpur Central Jail after being sentenced to a 5-year jail term. Even as his lawyers wait for his bail plea hearing, this is not the first time that the actor has been behind bars.

A Mumbai court sentenced Khan to five years in jail for allegedly killing a man and injuring others in the 2002 hit-and-run case. He was convicted of culpable homicide and charged for driving under the influence of alcohol, losing control of his Toyota Landcruiser, and ramming the vehicle into people sleeping on the pavement. He was arrested and shared his cell with petty criminals for few days, but was later granted bail.

From October 1998 till August 2007, the actor had spent 18 days in connection with the blackbuck killing case. Apart from the ongoing case, three other poaching cases were registered against him. He was also charged under the Arms Act for possessing illegal arms. However, he was acquitted in all three cases, except this one.

The last time he had to spend time in prison was in August 2007. The Rajasthan High Court had granted him bail following six-day jail time after he produced Rs 1 lakh personal bond and Rs 50,000-worth two surety bonds.

Salman Khan made headlines on Thursday as he was sentenced to five years in prison by a Jodhpur court for his role in the blackbuck killing case of 1998. The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dev Kumar Khatri, while announcing the verdict, called the actor a 'habitual offender'.

Salman, dressed in a black shirt and jeans, was seen arriving in court wearing dark glasses. He was flanked by his regular bodyguard Shera, even as 200 cops were deployed to provide security outside the court premises.

Saif had starred as Salman's younger brother in the Sooraj Barjatya family drama 'Hum Saath Saath Hai'. The incident had occurred in 1998 when the stars were shooting in Jodhpur for the film.
