Bollywood actor Salman Khan's punishment for the 1998 blackbuck and chinkara poaching case has come as shocker to most. While some lauded the move, many considered the sentence by the Jodhpur court as harsh.

The 'Bigg Boss 11' winner and former lead of 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' Shilpa Shinde, along with actor Arjun Rampal and singer Risha Singh, showed disappointment at the verdict. On the other hand, investor and former Infosys CEO Mohandas Pai welcomed the verdict. He tweeted that justice had won, and is more powerful than money.

Talking to Times Now, actress-MP Jaya Bachchan slammed the sentence and said the convicted actor should have been given a lenient punishment.

Earlier today, Sameer Soni, husband of Neelam Kothari who was one of the accused in the blackbuck case, said that it was surprising that one person had been singled out. "I'm happy for Neelam and the rest of us, but very disappointed for Salman," he said told Times Now.
