The Economic Times Startup Awards (ETSA) 2018, held at The Leela Palace in Bengaluru on August 17, were as much a celebration of young talent as they were of the easy camaraderie that is characteristic of the startup ecosystem. The evening saw startup stars and business honchos mingle and forge connections.

Competition was left at the door. Wipro board member Rishad Premji and Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan were seen having a long chat. Ola Cabs’ Bhavish Aggarwal and Uber India’s Madhu Kannan exchanged hellos.

Aggarwal, one of the earliest to arrive, promptly walked over to Infosys cofounder Nandan Nilekani and both enjoyed a cuppa in the relative quiet. Later, Aggarwal was overheard greeting Sachin Bansal, co-founder, Flipkart, with a “looking sharp” compliment. Their respective wives, Rajalakshmi and Priya, swapped tales of the projects they were busy with.

The feeling was mutual. “It is great to meet him [Bansal]. So many of our heroes are here,” said Ramasamy, as he pulled out a business card to hand to another new acquaintance he had just made.

Vani Kola of Kalaari Capital caught up with Ramasamy and Pai after four years. “It is inspiring the way they have built their brand,” Kola said. “I got to meet Freshmenu’s Rashmi Daga too. I made a new friend in Capital First’s Vaidyanathan. I will be having a postdinner talk with the founders of Ethereal Machines too.”

It's not every day that a Bollywood celebrity makes it to the list of 100 most influential people. But in the last few years, Deepika Padukone has become a household name. She is one of the best talents in Bollywood right now, and has made her presence felt in Hollywood too, with her maiden project 'xXx: Return Of Xander Cage'.

And this year, Padukone has made it to TIME magazine's esteemed list of 100 most influential men and women across the world. She is the only Bollywood celebrity to make it to the list this year.

Her Hollywood co-actor Vin Diesel thinks that she deserves every bit of this fame, and recalled the first time he met the diva and called the experience very special. He said that she isn't just a star but an actor who is dedicated to her craft.
