Esha Gupta shows us how to make a Cannes debut in style! Actress attends Johnny Depp-starrer film's premiere in white thigh-high slit Nicolas Jebran gown

The superstar,​ who took a three-year hiatus from acting due to a legal battle with former wife Amber Heard, walked the red carpet and was met with applause. His comeback film ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ (in which he plays King Louis XV, opened the film festival and received a standing ovation.

Amid the sea of gowns, Bollywood diva Sara Ali Khan decided to stand out in traditional Indian wear. The diva went full Desi for her Cannes debut. The ‘Aatrangi Re’ star wore a gorgeous (and heavily embroidered) ivory lehenga crafted by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. The actress had her hair styled in a tight bun, with a lacy dupatta draped over it. She attended the screening of the Johnny Depp starrer ‘Jeanne Du Barry’.

The former Miss World looked ethereal as she made her Cannes debut in a sheer white gown. Created by the eco-friendly brand Fovari, this lacy white off-shoulder gown is stuff straight from dreams. She paired it up with a green neckpiece and red-neon heels.

Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas made a splash on the Cannes red carpet. He was accompanied by his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, and daughter Carys (this was her Cannes debut). While Douglas looked dapper in a black and white suit, Zeta-Jones was a vision in a red Elie Saab gown with a plunging neckline. Carys too opted for a lacy white Elie Saab gown with noodle straps. Douglas was felicitated with an honourary Palme d’Or award.

Dame Helen Mirren was nothing short of dramatic as she walked the red carpet, clad in an electric blue Del Core gown and elaborate, vibrant blue hair! Mirren completed the look with a simple diamond necklace, Sole Bliss heels, and a paper fan!

The ‘Raaz 3’ actress made her Cannes red carpet debut. She looked absolutely breathtaking in a white Nicolas Jebran gown with a thigh slit.

L Murugan, the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting who is leading the Indian delegation at Cannes, also stuck to his cultural roots. As per a report by ANI, the minister wore a pristine white shirt with the national flag on the right side and a G20 logo on the left. He paired it up with a Veshti, a traditional Tamil body wrap.
