Manager bans chairs at work
A retail worker recently encountered a similar distressing situation that she shared on Reddit. The post resonated with many on the platform, sparking widespread discussions on unfavourable rules. In the post, the employee revealed that his new manager’s constant nagging forced the other 3 managers to quit their jobs as they were unable to put up with her relentless criticism and rigid management style any longer. The Redditor opened up about her work, sharing that the majority of people working in the organisation are elderly in their 70s. Since their role involves sales duties, they are required to stay on their feet at all times in the stands to sell products. This prompted the manager to ban every chair, deeming them unnecessary. The exception? If an individual showed a doctor’s prescription highlighting medical necessity, only then would they be given a chair.
Manager takes away chair, employee calls it unfair
The Redditor said that he felt sympathetic towards the old people due to the rule, as, according to him, an elderly person shouldn’t need a doctor’s note for them sit down. Recalling an incident, the employee disclosed that he had a chair underneath his cart, but after a few days, the furniture disappeared. He hinted that it was his manager who went out of his way to remove the chair, calling it a cruel act. In the thread below, the Redditor explained that the process of keeping a chair near the stands requires undergoing extensive paperwork which has to be submitted through an online portal, which again takes weeks to get approved. Surprisingly, since this no-chair rule was implemented recently, he did not find a valid point of why it was necessary in the first place.
