Over-indulgence during Diwali is quite a normal phenomenon for all of us. Pre-Diwali and Diwali days are loaded with sweet treats, sugary stuff, fried food and alcohol. Once Diwali is over, it leaves all of us with gloomy days for a bit - we like to call them ‘Diwali blues’. The week-long indulgence during Diwali can put your healthy lifestyle off-track. What’s worse is that it might even leave you craving for more!

So, if you are looking for ways to counter Diwali binge and recover from over-indulgence, we have got you covered! Here are some tips to bounce back to your regular routine post-Diwali:

Get quality sleep: The week-long multiple trips to various friends and family with loads of partying around can surely leave you tired and the best way to make your body recover from all this is to get a good night’s sleep. Make sure you keep your gadgets and gizmos aside and get some quality, undisturbed sleep so that you wake up rejuvenated and can kick start your regular regime.

Stock up of Fruits & Vegetables: Diwali cravings and bingeing can leave your body devoid of essential vitamins, minerals and fibre. You might even be feeling bloated or constipated by this time. So, try and include lots of fruits and veggies in your diet in the form of juices, smoothies, salads, soup or have them as it is. Try and include fruits like oranges, guava, papaya, apple, kiwi and vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini, tomato, bottle gourd, bitter gourd and sweet potato in your diet.

Sleep tight: Once you are done with Diwali parties, make sure you get a good night’s sleep.

Hydrate! Hydrate! : Gorging on junk food, sweets and alcohol can surely leave your body dehydrated. Apart from replenishing the water stores of your body, you also need to replenish the ion content. So, apart from plain water, include buttermilk, coconut water, vegetable juices and herbal teas in your diet to get back on track. Protip - you can also infuse freshly cut fruit slices to your plain water to make the most of it.

Get back on to your workout regime: Workout regime gets badly affected during the festivities. If you work out regularly, you know how gloomy your body feels the moment you are off it. So, gear up to flex those muscles again and cover those running miles as soon as the festivities are over. Not only will it relieve the stress and strain, it will also make you happier.

Boost up your immunity: The change of season after Diwali can affect your immune system in several ways. The best way to strengthen your immune system is to incorporate herbs like turmeric, ginger, garlic, cardamom and cinnamon in your diet.

All it takes is sheer determination and some form of self-discipline to restart your regular regime. Try these tips and you’d’ soon be jump-starting with unmatched energy.
