Kavin Mittal became a tax resident in India on account of his presence to manage a tech start-up from the financial year 2011-12.
Even though the world has shrunk and people with means travel between countries with ease, stories involving citizenship are always a compelling read.
JRD Tata, for instance, renounced his French citizenship at the age of 25, three years after joining the board of Tata Sons. Cyrus Mistry, however, had to embrace Irish citizenship in 2003, reportedly because India does not permit dual citizenship.
Among next-gen business leaders, Kavin Mittal is a British citizen by birth. According to his company’s statement, “He became a tax resident in India on account of his presence to manage a tech start-up from the financial year 2011-12.”
