Dhurandhar 2 release sets box office history: Ranveer Singh starrer beats Pawan Kalyan’s OG, Stree 2 as it crosses Rs 50 crore mark
Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has made a record-breaking start at the box office by crossing Rs 50 crore in paid previews alone. The film earned around Rs 52.71 crore gross in paid previews, setting a new benchm...

According to Sacnilk, the film has collected around Rs 52.71 crore gross and Rs 44 crore net from preview screenings across India. These shows began on March 18, just a day before the film’s worldwide release, and were spread across thousands of screens.
Record-breaking start
What stands out here is not just the number but how quickly it came in. The film reportedly had over 12,000 shows nationwide, and many of them were already full well in advance. Even with ticket prices going above Rs 400 in several cities, the demand did not slow down.Trade reports suggest that this is now the highest-ever paid preview collection for an Indian film. The earlier Bollywood benchmark was held by Stree 2 with around Rs 10 crore, while Pawan Kalyan’s film OG had done roughly Rs 25 crore. In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 has gone far ahead of both.
There were also some issues with dubbed versions. A few shows in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam either got delayed or cancelled due to technical reasons. This means the final number could have been slightly higher if everything had gone as planned.
Beats part 1 opening even before release
One detail that is being talked about a lot is how the preview number itself has already crossed the opening day collection of the first film. The original Dhurandhar had earned around Rs 33 crore on its first day. That number has now been comfortably beaten by the sequel’s previews alone. This has naturally raised expectations for the first official day. Early estimates from trade analysts are suggesting that the film could go close to or even cross the Rs 100 crore mark on Day 1 if the same momentum continues.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film brings back Ranveer Singh in the role of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari. The sequel comes after the first part reportedly earned around Rs 1300 crore globally, so expectations were already quite high.
The film is close to four hours long and has received an A certificate, but that hasn’t affected footfall so far. In fact, some theatres have even added midnight shows to manage the rush.
The advance booking had already hinted at a strong opening, but the actual turnout during previews has gone beyond expectations. Theatre owners and distributors are now looking at this as a possible record-breaking run if the trend holds over the weekend.
