Dhanush & Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth call it quits after 18 years of marriage, urge fans to respect their privacy

Southern superstar Dhanush took to Twitter to announce his separation from Aishwaryaa. The couple is divorcing after 18 years of marriage. Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, the elder daughter of Rajinikanth, married on 18 November 2004. The couple has two sons Linga and Yatra.

"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better," read a statement posted by Dhanush on his Twitter handle.
The actor signed off the post with 'Spread love, D'.


On the other hand, the actor's now former wife shared the same statement on her Instagram. "No caption needed…only your understanding n your love necessary!," wrote Aishwaryaa, who is also a filmmaker and playback singer.

Both Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, urged fans to respect their decision and give them the much-needed privacy.

Dhanush was recently seen in film-maker Anand L Rai’s Hindi film ‘Atrangi Re’ opposite Sara Ali Khan. This was the actor’s second outing with the film-maker after ‘Raanjhanaa’. His performance in ‘Atrangi Re’ won him rave reviews.

This is the second high-profile divorce in K-town in recent times. On December 29, music composer D Imman took to social media to announce his separation from his wife Monicka Richard. The 'Annaatthe' composer had entered into wedlock with computer engineer Monicka earlier in April 2008.
