Travel is one thing that Lalit Mehta, CEO, Decimal Technologies misses the most. "I used to travel 20 days in a month, so it’s a big change for me. Getting back on the road or in a flight is something I would love to do when things are better," he says.

When it comes to holidays, Mehta is a beach person. "I would love to go back to Varkala or Gokarna, it would be like getting back to life. International, would be great to get back to Krabi and get back to SCUBA," he says.

Own space
When it comes to pampering Mehta thinks the gym is his best bet. Getting back to some group workouts is fantastic for him.

"When it comes to restaurants my list of favourites is too long to be listed here. I am generally a foodie and love small road side joints to fine dine restaurants. I am already missing Ashok vada pav near Kirti College, Sam Chinese at Goregaon East our breakfast joint while on business. In last few months before COVID, I made a few business trips to Cambodia and Vietnam and I just loved the food there. I am longing to be back there," he says.

Mehta is not a big shopping fan but it does work as a therapy at times for him. "Once in a while I used to go with my family for grocery shopping and I always loved talking to people there whether it's on the floor or on the cash register. That used to be family fun. Shopping destinations, I have always loved to shop at large outlet malls in the US whether its outlet malls in Long Island or in San Francisco, they are great and my every trip to US does include a visit to one of these malls. Actually speaking, I believe I have done more shopping in lockdown than what I usually do. Every now and then I was reminded of something missing in our home and ecommerce came to rescue," he says.

"I can’t miss mentioning my Digital Pen and Digital Whiteboard. I am so much into writing on white boards that when lockdown started, I found my meetings to be less enjoyable. Then I got a digital pen and MS Whiteboard, this combination has helped make the meetings a lot better and helped me lot more to communicate in my way. Ear pods were never used as much at work as they have been put to use in lockdown, they used to be more of flight accessory," he adds.

Mehta took the challenge to be more disciplined and organized during lockdown. "I do see some improvement in my time management. I have been more proactive, most days than not I have responded to emails on the same day. Personally, have tried a hand at cooking a few times but haven’t been very regular. As a family we did buy quite a bit of cooking equipment, my daughter has developed cooking skills fairly well in the lockdown," he says.

Fitness favourite
He subscribed to online workout sessions and they have been very helpful. Around four to five days a week workout is the start of the day. "I have been more into body weight workout with some hand weights and resistance bands. I have been regular with Yoga as well. When our family was in COVID, Pranayam was a regular thing which is again losing regularity. I prefer full body workouts over spot training. I’ve invested in some home workout equipment as well, as mentioned above. With Yoga and other body weight exercises, I ensure that I am not only keeping calories in check but also working out every muscle and maximizing overall strength. I am always keen to explore new types of workouts," he says.

Mehta picked up cycling during the last one year. Not only does it help him sneak in some exercise but it also ensures he is practising social distancing. There’s also nostalgia attached to it.

"Cycling in the open air also brings a sense of tranquillity and sets the mood for the day, so I prefer taking my cycle out in the morning. It’s also a great way to soak in some early morning sun. It was an explicit effort to stay upbeat and mentally agile. Talking to friends and associates who had lost touch for some time helped stay upbeat. I did spend some time with mentoring and helping some colleagues plan their growth and life, this too was quite refreshing and did bring some fresh thought and perspective," he says.

Mehta got a haircut from his wife which was an experience and it sure led to a new look. "Then came stubble, which started more from being a little lazy but then became mainstream. With stubble came trimmers. So, some more shopping. I did order a salon kit so that my wife does a better job of my hairdo just in case I need it again," he ends.

If you’re trimming your beard for the first time by yourself, it’s going to take a trim or two to find the most flattering length. Always start with a higher guard length to be certain that you don’t trim too much away. You can’t undo a too-short style but you can always shorten it on a second pass, if needed.

While growing a beard, it might be tempting to let your beard grow any way it wants but that can give an unkempt look. Trimming loose stray hairs as it grows will not only prevent a disheveled look but it will also help sculpt your beard into its stylized place.

A great way to do this is comb out your beard in the direction it grows before cutting to remove any tangles. If you’re not growing a moustache, trim the hair that grows over the lip area - – this immediately gives the appearance of a neater beard while in the growing stages.

Once you have the ideal length, it’s time to sculpt. You need to know where to draw your beard boundaries. However, getting the lines right can be tricky. Stick to the natural growth pattern around the cheek area.

Try not to cut into too much of the beard hair as this may result in further maintenance as the beard grows. Use points of the ear and nose area to ensure your beard is symmetrical.

One expert recommends that if your sideburns are overgrown, trimming down this area will reduce puffiness around the face. Additionally, trimming the neck area will do wonders for giving you a chiseled jawline. Start from the middle of your neck and work your way out on either side to help with symmetry.
