Coronavirus hits 'Angrezi Medium'; film earns Rs 4.03 cr on Day 1

Cinema halls have been shut in several cities across the country.

Irrfan Khan's much-awaited 'Angrezi Medium' was among the films hit by the coronavirus outbreak, managing to rake in only Rs 4.03 crore on its opening day.

The film's makers had earlier announced that they would release the film on a later date in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala, as the states had shut theatres till the end of the month. However, several other states across the country have also followed suit now.

The collections suffered due to the shutdown of cinema halls in several regions, including Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Jammu and several cities of Maharashtra.


Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box office numbers, "#AngreziMedium Fri 4.03 cr. #India biz.Note: Biz has been severely affected due to closure of cinema halls in several states. #CoronaVirus #COVID19."

Directed by Homi Adajania, the film also stars Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal, Ranvir Shorey, Dimple Kapadia and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
