‘Could not sleep for an hour’: Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar reveals how Suriya, Mamitha Baiju’s Vishwanath and Sons impacted him

Suriya and Mamitha Baiju shared the screen in the Tamil romantic movie Vishwanath and Sons. The movie was released on August 14 and it became a commercial hit, grossing Rs 200 crore in its opening week. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film also features Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Recently, actor Shiva Rajkumar watched the film and showered imense love on it.

The film is currently streaming on Netflix after a successful theatrical run. Shiva Rajkumar recently watched it and revealed that the movie reminded him of his parents and family. He said it had an emotional impact on him even after the end credits rolled.




Taking to his social media handle, as cited by TOI, he wrote, "I watched Vishwanath And Sons recently. When I saw the film, I couldn’t sleep for an hour. It reminded me of my parents and my family. I was lying there, thinking about it, and I was in tears,”

The actor further added, “I think some emotions... I also wish to do a film like that someday."

Directed by Venky Atluri, the story revolves arounf Sanjay "Sanju" Vishwanath (Suriya), a wealthy business tycoon and bachelor dealing with childhood trauma, who opts for surrogacy to fulfil his mother's wish for an heir. When his newborn son faces a medical crisis, Sanjay brings the surrogate mother, Madhanakameshwari "Maddy" (Mamitha Baiju), back into their lives, leading to an evolving emotional bond between them.



As per a report by Cinema Express, the film grossed over Rs 260 crore at the global box office on Monday, September 7.With this, Viswanath & Sons has become the second Suriya starrer of 2026 to gross more than Rs 250 crore from theatres worldwide, the first one being Karuppu, which minted over Rs 300 crore.

The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Up next, Suriya is expected to star in director Jithu Madhavan's upcoming film, tentatively titled S47. He also has another project with director TJ Gnanavel, backed by Hombale Films, along with several other films currently in development.
