Anand Mahindra is a patron of unconventional causes. When the women’s ice hockey team first shot to prominence by taking a bow on the international stage, their list of well-wishers had a host of names, including that of Mahindra.

Recently, the team’s management took the crowdfunding route and sought contributions from the public on social media platforms. “I’ve decided to support these passionate athletes. #SupportIceHockey. Your turn? Chak de barf pe! ” read Mahindra’s tweet.

The team utilised the funds collected from corporate houses to train on an Olympic-size rink in Kyrgyzstan prior to the tournament. The debutants managed to win two games at Asia’s premiere ice hockey event in 2017.
