Celebrating a life: Honouring Nani Palkhivala on 99th birth anniversary

Keeping the spirit of noted economist and jurist, Nani Palkhivala alive, Dr Dharmendra Bhandari, the author of 'Nani Palkhivala: God’s Gift to India (Biography by a Friend)', celebrated Palkhivala’s 99th birth anniversary at the Cricket Club of India recently.
Dr Farokh Udwadia and Dr FC Kohli were the guests of honour for the celebrations.
Dr Bhandari advocated that Palkhivala be awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously, which was reiterated by Dr Udwadia and Kohli.
Unbeknownst to many, Palkhivala was the founder-chairman of Tata Consultancy Services for nearly three decades. Dr Bhandari has also penned the biography, RK Laxman – The Uncommon Man.

IT czar and philanthropist Azim Premji has been bestowed with the highest French civilian distinction Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) The chairman of Wipro received the distinction for his contribution to developing the IT industry in India, his economic outreach in France, and his contribution to society.
The Legion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour), instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, is the highest civilian award given by the French Republic for outstanding service to France, regardless of the nationality of the recipients.
