'Brahmastra' races ahead of 'RRR' and 'Kantara' to be the most Googled Indian film of 2022'
The movie grossed more than Rs 430 crore at the box office globally.

‘Brahmastra’ the Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor starrer has emerged to become the ‘Most Googled Indian Film of 2022’ despite facing stiff competition from other blockbusters like ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, ‘RRR’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Kantara’.
Although the Ayan Mukerji directorial was far from the most commercially successful Indian movie of ‘22, it nevertheless became the most-typed Indian movie on the search engine. The mega-budget fantasy was frontlined by Kapoor and Bhatt and had special appearances from industry heavyweights like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, and Akkineni Nagarjuna. It even starred Deepika Padukone in a special cameo. So unsurprisingly, it created buzz online for several days and was searched heavily on Google by netizens.
‘Brahmastra’ was followed by the Yash starrer, the Kannada superhit, ‘KGF 2’ which was the highest-grossing film of ‘22, and Vivek Agnihotri’s controversial movie on the exodus of Kashmiri pandits from the Kashmir valley. The rest of the list was heavily dominated by movies from the South. S.S Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’, the Kannada blockbuster ‘Kantara’, and Kamal Hasaan’s much-anticipated comeback ‘Vikram’ showed up on the list.
South remained ahead of Bollywood as aside from the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, only three movies ranked in the list, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ the official remake of ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn’s thriller-drama ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’.
Globally, the list was topped by Chris Hemsworth’s superhero saga, ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’, Dwayne Johnson’s superhero flick ‘Black Adam’, Tom Cruise’s action drama ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (the movie was a sequel to the 1986 blockbuster ‘Top Gun’ and Tom Cruise reprised his iconic role of naval aviator Maverick) and Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’ hogged the top spots on the list.
