A few days ago, the motorcycle made a blast from the past return this time on social media with accounts on Instagram and Twitter becoming active leading to a website.
Vintage motorcycle, Yezdi which is a collector's pride, made a return of sorts on social media a few days ago. There is a lot of speculation that the bike will be back like Jawa Motorcycles thanks to Classic Legends. When the duo were the bikes of the time in the 70s, 80s and early 90s, Yezdi was cheaper compared to Jawa.
With Anand Mahindra, Anupam Thareja and Boman Irani at the helm, Classic Legends, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra aims to re-introduce iconic motorcycle brands back into the world. The company's current brand portfolio includes the BSA and Jawa marques, according to their Jawa motorcycle's website.
Yezdi motorcycles had the tag line, 'Forever Bike, Forever Value' when it was launched in 1969.
Reliability and resilience were the two words that were often associated with the bikes as they had singular design and rugged character.

While Jawa was a Czech bike, Yezdi was an Indian version of it with raw power and speed. The bike was perfect for racing and rallying.
K Chinnappa, Somendra Singh, Jagadeeswara Reddy, Thirumal Roy, Jagat Nanjappa, Rustom Hormuzdi, B S Shinde and Anita Nanjappa were some of the famous riders who raced and rally rode on a Yezdi. The race tracks of Sholavaram, Pune, and Kolkata, the roads of the Himalayas and South India showed the true pace of the bike.

The bike was a major hit in Bollywood featuring in various movies being ridden by some of the top stars. Jeetendra in Humjoli in 1970, Amitabh Bachchan in Parvarish in 1977 and Farooq Shaikh with Deepti Naval in Chashme Buddoor in 1981 were some instances when the motorcycle was a co-star to some famous names.
Lovers of the bike maintain their vehicles and even hold a special Yezdi Day on the second Sunday of every July. The bike stopped production in 1996, but it lives on through fans who still keep their bikes spotless and as good as new.

This monstrous two-wheeler stands out with its unconventional architecture. It requires it to be piloted partly in a ‘Superman position’ and steered by the shoulders instead of hands. Actually driven in the movie The Dark Knight (2008), it was conceptualised by Nathan Crowley, who also created the Batmobile. The bike has 20-inch front and rear tyres, and the engines are in the hubs of the wheels. Crowley never revealed the power of its engine.
