After winning Fame Gurukul in 2005, Qazi received several opportunities in the entertainment industry. Among them was an offer from Ekta Kapoor, who approached him with a role in her television show Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. She wanted him to play a rockstar in the romantic series, but Qazi eventually decided not to take up the project.

Speaking about the meeting in a conversation with actress Aamrapali Dubey, Qazi recalled "Aur mujhe tab samajh nahi aayi, main chota tha sirf 20 saal ka main sirf unki anguthiyaan dekh raha tha dono haanthon mein. Rockstar ka pura character Ekta ji mujhe narrate kar rahi thi."




Qazi explained that he was exploring opportunities in films and had already signed a movie contract. Since he believed he was committed to that project, he felt he could not accept the television role.

However, he found it difficult to refuse Ekta directly. Instead, he quietly told Anupama, a woman accompanying him during the meeting, that he would not be able to do the show because of his existing commitment.

According to Qazi, the people present accepted his decision and told him it was fine if he did not want to take up the role. The character eventually went to actor Iqbal Khan, who played Angad Khanna in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai.

Although Qazi believed he had made a straightforward career decision, the next morning brought an unexpected reaction. He recalled seeing headlines, “Main subah breakfast mein dekh raha hoon, ‘Qazi ditched Ekta Kapoor. Qazi has a bigger fish to fry.’”

The coverage left him feeling that he had been unfairly portrayed as arrogant. Qazi explained that he was young and had no social media platform at the time to share his side of the story or clarify why he had declined the offer.

His decision, as he recalled it, was linked to the film contract he had already signed rather than any intention to disrespect the television producer. The incident remained a part of his early career story for years.

Qazi’s team recently shared a video of his conversation with Aamrapali Dubey on social media, bringing the old episode back into focus. The post tagged Ekta and conveyed that, after nearly 20 years, the misunderstanding was finally beginning to fade. The message also said that while time had passed, Qazi’s innocence remained unchanged.
