A Bengaluru-based engineer recently talked about the best job perk in a viral post
What constitutes a great job? Most people would say a great salary. Some would point out a great work-life balance. Others will say permission to work remotely is the best thing about their job. However, for a Bengaluru-based Senior AI engineer, Aman Vaishnav says the best perk in a job is not the free food or fancy gym membership but trust, respect, and flexibility. Taking to Instagram, he revealed he only goes to the office twice a week and only when he “feels like it". He claimed that no biometrics tracked his check-ins and there’s no assigned seat for him, either. He also revealed there is no organised manner in which one applies for leave. If someone wanted leave, all they had to do was let the manager know through a message. “I don’t have to write an emotional essay or kill my imaginary daadi just to take a Friday off," he joked.

He also said that there was no micromanagement, no fake urgency from the authorities, just trust that the work would be done. This trust enabled him to be productive and give his best.

He then concluded that a high CTC does pay your bills, but a healthy workplace that respects you as an employee and makes you feel seen and trusted will protect your peace and bring out the best in you. If you have a team that treats you like an adult, you have already won half the corporate game,' he explained.

Building Trust Can Make Employees More Productive

According to an Ernst & Young report, many Gen Z employees value being trusted by managers and dislike being micromanaged. For Gen Z employees, trust in the workplace often begins with meaningful personal connections among colleagues. Strengthening existing relationships can foster a more supportive environment and improve the overall work experience. Interestingly, 71% of Gen Z workers reportedly trust their immediate supervisors, suggesting they place greater confidence in direct managers than in the organisations they work for.
