Bengaluru is one of the leading IT hubs in the country. Every year, several professionals give up the comfort of their homes and the familiarity of their surroundings to move to the Silicon Valley of India, or other prominent metro cities, for better opportunities, career growth, personal development and a handsome paycheck. And sometimes the price they pay for the pursuit is loneliness, as revealed by a Bengaluru man on Reddit, who shared his experience of dealing with a sense of social isolation after moving to the city.

Bengaluru man dealing with loneliness

The Bengaluru man recently posted an honest write-up on Reddit with the title, ‘Moving to Bangalore made me realise how hard it is to make actual friends as an adult.’

In his note, the Bengaluru man revealed that he has decided to put his thoughts into words as he has been feeling alone for quite a long time. Additionally, coming across similar posts by other people living in Bengaluru made him realise that he is not the only one dealing with the issue.

Bengaluru man on why he feels empty

The Bengaluru man shared that after you move to the city or even if you have been living here for years, there are some things that hit you. He wrote that the city feels crowded and busy with something or the other happening every weekend.

Cafes remain full, pubs are packed, and lively events happen everywhere. But despite all the bustle, it is easy to drown in the depths of isolation. To explain himself further, the Bengaluru man gave a perfect example, stating that in schools and colleges, friendships were effortless, forming naturally.

Bengaluru man hopes to bring change

On the contrary, as adults, conversations mostly revolve around work, project updates and jobs over quick coffee breaks. What’s more, the Bengaluru man added that he has noticed that even outside work, everyone seems to already have their established group or is just too tired from commuting to hang out, contributing to the acute loneliness.
