After toxic jobs, Bengaluru professional quits corporate life, puts his gadgets up for sale. Instead of snapping bargains, strangers offer support

Toxic workplaces take a toll on physical and mental well-being. Relentless pressure, unreasonable demands and unsupportive bosses disrupt work-life balance, leaving employees exhausted and ultimately leading to burnout. At such times, recognising the warning signs and walking away from the workplace becomes necessary to protect mental health and reclaim a sense of balance. Recently, a Bengaluru professional, working in a similar toxic environment, quit his job and listed his gadgets and other belongings for sale on Reddit. Surprisingly, instead of bargaining over prices, strangers came out in his support, asking whether he was doing okay.

Bengaluru professional puts up items for sale

In the Reddit post, the Bengaluru professional shared multiple items for sale, some even expensive ones like an iPhone and PlayStation. He also shared images of the things, alongside each of their prices. While usually people would have jumped into bargaining, they showed kindness and empathy to the professional, concerned about his decision to give away personal and hard-earned items. Many users checked upon his mental health, urging him to share if anything was bothering him.

Among the high-value items put up for sale was a custom-built desktop PC priced at Rs 1.30 lakh. The setup featured a Ryzen 7 2700X processor, Zotac RTX 3060 graphics card with 12GB VRAM, 48GB DDR4 RAM and nearly 10TB of storage spread across multiple hard drives and an SSD, along with an ASRock Steel Legend B450 motherboard.

Expensive gadgets on sale

The Bengaluru professional also listed his 128GB iPhone 15 Pro for Rs 62,000. An Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop powered by an 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor was priced at Rs 70,000. The laptop came with 32GB RAM, a combination of 1TB SSD and 1TB HDD storage, an RTX 3060 6GB graphics card and a 2K 165Hz display.

Another item up for sale was a 128GB Meta Quest 3 VR headset, listed for Rs 39,000. The package included Batman: Arkham Shadow, a 16-foot Kiwi Design Link Cable for PC gaming and silicone controller trigger caps. The Bengaluru professional invited interested buyers to contact him through direct messages before ending the post with a brief note thanking everyone.

Social media reacts with empathy

The post was swamped with compassionate remarks. ‘Going through a rough patch? Don't lose hope,’ wrote a well-wisher. ‘Bro is selling his gaming PC. Are you okay, baccha (kid)?’ asked a worried individual. ‘Idk why you are trying to sell these at low prices. But my advice is to not throw away your hard-earned money like this,’ noted someone else. A few, however, congratulated the Bengaluru professional for choosing to live a hermit life.
