Awarapan 2 is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The platform announced the film's digital release on Friday, October 9, without an earlier announcement of its OTT premiere date. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films, the film stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, with Shabana Azmi and Puran Gabbi in supporting roles. It was released in theatres on August 14, during the Independence Day weekend.Prime Video shared a teaser on Instagram to announce the film's arrival on its platform. The post invited viewers to reunite with Shivam Pandit, using the line, “Toh phir aao ek baar phir Shivam Pandit se milne.” The caption also confirmed that the film was available to watch.
The teaser features Hashmi being photographed as he approaches for a take, while Tera Mera Rishta, a popular song from the original Awarapan, plays through his headphones. The clip carries the text, “Me in public vs. my headphones.”
The choice of song brings back memories of the 2007 film, whose music remains closely associated with its lasting popularity. Mithoon and Sayeed Quadri are also associated with the music of Awarapan 2, continuing the franchise's connection with emotional songs and romantic drama.

The sequel returns to Shivam Pandit, a character shaped by loss, guilt and his violent past. In the first film, Shivam was introduced as a cold-blooded hitman working for gangster Malik. His life took a turn when he developed feelings for Reema, a woman held captive by Malik, and decided to help her escape. His decision ultimately came at a heavy personal cost.Awarapan 2 revisits Shivam nearly two decades later, with the character returning to the dark underworld. The emotional scars of his past remain, even as he faces a new phase of his life.
The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, featured Hashmi alongside Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma and Ashish Vidyarthi. Although the film did not perform well at the box office when it first released, it gradually developed a cult following among viewers. Its music and Shivam's tragic journey helped the film remain popular over the years.

Awarapan 2 has reported worldwide gross collections of Rs 213.01 crore, while its India net collection stands at Rs 150.59 crore, according to Sacnilk. The film's reported show count is 139,063. Its theatrical performance has given the franchise a significant commercial boost.On the work front, Hashmi will next appear in Gunmaaster G9, an action-romance drama directed by Aditya Datt. The film also stars Genelia D'Souza and Aparshakti Khurana and is scheduled to release in theatres on November 27.
