'Atithi Devo Bhava': FM Nirmala Sitharaman looks after delegates during lunch break, her humble hospitality wins the Internet

After presenting the Union Budget 2023, Nirmala Sitharaman is yet again making headlines and rocking the Internet as she attends the first G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under the G20 India Presidency.

The Finance Minister on Friday won hearts across the country for presenting a humble image of Indian hospitality as she looked after delegates during the lunch break.

A picture shared by the official Instagram handle of Sitharaman, managed by her office, shows the 63-year-old economist attending to guests by going over each table during the lunch break.


Sitharaman interacted with the delegates who are here in Bengaluru to attend the meeting.

In the pictures, we can see Sitharaman standing next to tables, interacting with delegates served with Indian thalis (plate) full of different delicacies.

With over 35K likes, the post is flooded with proud Indians applauding the finance minister's humble hospitality and proving the Sanskrit phrase "Atithi Devo Bhava" (A guest is akin to god) true.

Many people also praised Sitharam for standing humbly and attending to guests.

Earlier, Sitharaman broke the Internet after a picture of her posing with Gita Gopinath, the first deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday.

The IMF economist took to Twitter to share a picture with the FM. "It was really nice to catch up with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the G20 FMCBG (Finance Minister and Central Bank Governors) meeting in Bengaluru. Lots of good discussions," she wrote.
