Asus ROG Strix GA35 review: Gaming desktop caters to almost every need a gamer might want

For hardcore gamers, a gaming desktop is perhaps more suitable than laptops as they usually look for repairability, upgradability, future-proofing, easy access to ports and, most importantly, hot-swappable storage bays. Such gamers usually want to choose their CPU setup and build a PC according to their needs.
Asus recently launched its latest ROG desktop machine - the Strix GA35 - that claims to cater to most needs of gamers without making much of a compromise.
Asus has gone for a different combination than usual with the gaming desktops. Our test unit is powered by a AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Ti card and costs Rs 3,49,990. The CPU and GPU combination is not so common in the gaming space, but we will have to say that this is one of the best configurations we have tested so far.
AMD Ryzen CPUs have definitely gotten better over the generations. The Ryzen 9 3959X is the best example for that. In our tests, the desktop managed to handle everything smoothly and without any stutters or lags.
We tested some latest titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and PUBG and the Strix GA35 ran them all at more than respectable framerates. The RTX 2080Ti also managed to deliver great on Ray Tracing by enhancing overall visuals of the game. The desktop also managed to render a complete 10 minutes 8K footage without any lag or slowdown.
Asus has also done a good job at design by adding plenty of openings for air intake and outlet by adding mesh grille at the front and the top. This helps the cooling system to dissipate heat properly and keep the system running on idle temperature even in the long run.
Also, there is LED lighting everywhere. It looks pleasant due to the transparent side panel. The LEDs are Aura Sync compatible and sync correctly with Aura Sync-enabled peripherals such as the keyboard and mouse that come bundled with the package. The CPU cabinet also comes with plenty of ports at the top and back. It even gets two hot-swappable SSD bays at the front of the cabinet, covered by a spring flap.
The Strix GA35 is a very organised and well thought out gaming desktop that caters to almost every need a gamer might want.
