Ashish Goel of Urban Ladder says small furniture shops can drive innovation
Goel, CEO of Urban Ladder knows exactly why size matters.

Size matters for Ashish Goel, CEO of Urban Ladder. But not in the way that most would assume. During a conversation on ‘How retail will shape India’s future prowess’ at a forum, Goel said small shops, even for furniture, could in fact drive innovation.
“[Typically] You can’t just cram sofas in 300 square feet,” Goel said. “Customers will walk in and say ‘You know what, this is too small’. If you ask me, I think there is a much bigger opportunity to drive innovation [with smaller shops] in terms of the retail format. As an outsider (one without a background in retail), I’m okay with questioning how or what a traditional store should look like.”
Creativity certainly helps in innovative thinking.
