At the Apple event on Tuesday, they introduced the eagerly awaited AirPods Pro 2, featuring support for the USB Type-C port.
USB-C AirPods Pro (2nd Generation): Key Features
The standout feature of the AirPods Pro 2 is its compatibility with a MagSafe charging case featuring a USB-C port. This aligns with Apple's trend of adopting the USB-C standard in its product line-up, as seen with the iPhone 15 series. The USB-C port is also accompanied by new IP54 dust and splash resistance, providing added durability. Additionally, the AirPods Pro 2 now supports Lossless Audio with Apple Vision Pro.
The core features of the original AirPods Pro 2 remain intact, such as the Active Noise Cancellation, which has been improved by 2x compared to its predecessor. The spatial audio experience has been enhanced for greater immersion, and a new Advanced Transparency mode has been added.
Apple has claimed an improvement in dust resistance capabilities as well. With the introduction of iOS 17, the AirPods Pro 2 offer new functionalities like adaptive audio, personalized volume adjustment, and conversation awareness features.
Pricing & Availability
The AirPods Pro 2 are competitively priced at $249 in the United States and Rs 24,900 in India, offering a more affordable option compared to the original model.Pre-orders for these earbuds have started, and they will be available for purchase starting September 22.
USB-C Integration Across Apple Devices
The company has already integrated the USB-C port into devices like the Mac, iPad, iPhone, and even accessories like the Apple TV 4K's remote control.
This move ensures greater convenience for users who can now use a single cable for both their iPhone 15 and AirPods Pro 2, simplifying their charging setup.
However, while the AirPods Pro 2 makes the transition to USB-C, the regular AirPods and AirPods Max headphones have not yet received this upgrade. However, rumors suggest that these products may undergo similar revisions in the near future.
