Another winter, and (quiet) wedding! Tejashwi Yadav marries school friend Rachel at Delhi farmhouse; brother Tej Pratap, SP leader Akhilesh spotted

Sawai Madhopur was not the only to have played host to a hush-hush-for-the-longest-time wedding (Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal) on Thursday. Miles away at a south Delhi farmhouse, a political scion took the plunge into matrimony as well.

Tejashwi Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister, married Rachel Godinho at a ceremony held at his sister Misa Bharti's residence. The rituals were conducted at Bharti's residence on the outskirts of the city. The 32-year-old Tejashwi, who is the younger son and political heir of RJD chief Lalu Yadav, was the only one among his eight siblings not married.

Tejashwi's sister Rohini Acharya, who is based in Singapore, posted a few pictures from the celebrations on Twitter. She wished the couple "a lifetime of happiness". Tejashwi wore a golden sherwani, while his bride chose a traditional red colour lehenga on her special day.


Lalu's other son Tej Pratap, who has had differences with the family, decided to make an appearance. He also wished his brother "Arjun" luck on his new innings, and showed some Twitter love.


From the pictures it emerged that the couple got married according to Hindu rituals in the presence of their family members, including the RJD leader's mother and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

The wedding was a private affair, with around 50 close friends and family in attendance. Tejashwi has seven sisters and an older brother, Tej Pratap. Tejashwi reportedly met Rachel when he studied in Delhi Public School in the national capital. Before diving into politics, he tried his hand at cricket. As a professional cricketer, he was in the Delhi Daredevils and the Jharkhand cricket team.
