Talking football with Andrew Holland, CEO of Avendus Capital Alternate Strategies:

Favourite player
‘I still cannot decide between Pele and Bobby Charlton — both brilliant players, gentlemen on and off the pitch and global ambassadors for football. Pele was, of course, a genius with the ball and with skills that most of today’s footballers still dream about having. Bobby Charlton was a great midfielder, had a rocket shot and could spread the ball around to team mates from 40 yards away with pinpoint accuracy.’

Favourite World Cup moment
‘I was too young when England won the World Cup in 1966. So, I watched the World Cup for the first time in 1970. My favourite moment from the tournament was the England vs Brazil match and, in particular, when keeper Gordon Banks made an acrobatic save off a Pele header.’

Favourite team
‘England, any day.’
