Anand Mahindra wants to give Neeraj Chopra & Arshad Nadeem gold medals for showing true sportsmanship

Industrialist Anand Mahindra took to his Twitter account to commend this spirit of competition that goes beyond negativity and enmity. The 67-year-old shared a screenshot of Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra’s appreciation of Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem.


In his tweet, Mahindra said that this is how the world should be. He went on to say that both Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem should be given a gold medal for demonstrating the distinction between competitiveness and enmity.

“This is how the world should be… A Gold medal to both of them for demonstrating the difference between competitiveness and enmity,” read Mahindra’s tweet.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem gave the country its first gold medal in the javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games. Nadeem created a record of 90.18m surpassing Chopra’s Tokyo Olympic record of 87.58m which earned India a gold medal.

Chopra, who had to pull out of the CWG 2022 owing to an injury, acknowledged his Pakistani counterpart. He congratulated Nadeem on his Instagram post offering best wishes for upcoming competitions. “Congratulations Arshad bhai for gold and crossing 90mtr with new games record. Aage ke competitions ke liye all the best," read Chopra’s reply to Nadeem's post.

Nadeem is the first-ever Pakistani to qualify for the final of any track event in the Olympics history. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he finished fifth with his 84.62m throw.
