Anand Mahindra shares some British humour laced with 'Desi touch' amidst UK crisis

Anand Mahindra is a busy boss but the chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra always makes some time to keep serving quirky and interesting posts on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter. The businessman, who enjoys 9.4 million followers on Twitter, even loves to interact with people on social media.

Mahindra never hesitates to use subtle humour and get cheeky on the Internet and his clever tweets, which never fail to make a headline, are a proof of that. In a new post made on Monday, the Mahindra Group chairman shared a meme over the UK crisis.

The 67-year-old on Monday shared a picture of 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister, which started a chatter on Twitter.


In the picture, the façade of the UK PM's residence is covered with dry mango leaves and a Swastika symbol. The tweet by Mahindra read: "The future of 10 Downing Street? The famed British humour is now laced with Desi humour ..."


The meme shared by the businessman comes at the backdrop of former UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak officially launching his campaign to be elected as the new Conservative Party leader and UK Prime Minister. While the important question of the hour is "who might replace Boris Johnson as Britain's PM?", there so far is no clear favourite and the candidates are not listed in order of likely prospects.

On Friday, Sunak announced his leadership bid with a campaign video. The 42-year-old promised to confront the difficult economic backdrop with "honesty, seriousness and determination", rather than piling the burden on future generations.

In early 2020, Sunak became finance minister and was also praised for a Covid-19 economic rescue package, including a costly jobs retention programme that averted mass unemployment.
