Anand Mahindra heaps praise on newly-crowned Grammy winner Ricky Kej, says Bengaluru composer's ‘A Prayer’ showcases his versatility

Ricky Kej, the award-winning composer and environmentalist, made over one billion Indians proud with his Grammy win on Sunday. Kej, the 40-year-old Bengaluru resident, had won the prestigious honour for the second time.
This time he won the Grammy Award for the Best New Age Album, for ‘Divine Tides’. The album is a collaborative work between Raj and American rock artist Stewart Copeland. Following his Grammy win, politicians to celebrities from India congratulated the musician.
Industrialist Anand Mahindra took to Twitter to congratulate the artist. The Chairman of Mahindra Group praised Kej’s versatility as a musician. The 66-year-old went on to mention one of Kej’s songs ‘A Prayer’ as a testament to his talent. He commended the artist for excelling in different genres of music and retaining the sounds of India.
“The music in this album is beautiful—almost ethereal. Tracks like ‘A Prayer’ are evidence of how versatile you are in using different genres of music, but still, the sound & the vibrations are essentially the sounds of India. Thank you for making us proud,” tweeted the Mahindra boss.
After his victory, an overjoyed Kej shared a celebratory tweet. The Bengaluru-based musician expressed his gratitude and love to collaborator Copeland.

Kej earned his first Grammy in 2015 for his album 'Winds of Samsara' created in collaboration with South African composer Wouter Kellerman.
