Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt may be finally heading to the altar. If reports are to be believed the ‘Barfi’ actor is all set to tie the knot with his girlfriend, actress Alia Bhatt in the second week of April. Apparently, the families do not want to delay the nuptials further, given the fragile state of health of Bhatt’s maternal grandfather, N Razdan.

In an exclusive interview with an unnamed source close to both the Kapoors and the Bhatts, Times of India found out that the event is going to be a family affair, with only near and dear ones invited. Although a date has not been finalized yet as depending upon senior Razdan’s health condition it is likely to shift back-and-forth, but tentatively the wedding can happen on April 17.

“Alia's maternal grandfather N Razdan is in fragile physical condition and he expressed his desire to see Alia get married to Ranbir. Mr Razdan has also grown quite fond of Ranbir and loves him a lot,” the source told The Times of India. The report also stated that Shaadi Squad and mehendi expert Veena Nagda has already been roped in for the April event.

Reports of the couple getting hitched has been doing rounds for a while now and Kapoor has also revealed that it is on the cards 'soon'. During the promotions of his late father Rishi Kapoor's final film 'Sharmaji Namkeen', Kapoor told NDTV he has intentions to marry Bhatt 'soon'. "I won't give out a date during a media interaction. But Alia and I have all the intentions of getting married soon, so yes, hopefully soon," he was quoted as saying.

The couple has sparked wedding rumours several times in recent months. A few weeks ago, the couple met Beena Kannan, CEO and lead designer at Seematti Textiles that specialises in bridalwear. The clothing entrepreneur posted a photo with them on Instagram, igniting questions about when the stars would tie the knot.

Before that incident, wedding buzz was sparked by an India Today report that spotted actress Neetu Kapoor visiting fashion designer Manish Malhotra's store in Mumbai and fans instantly thought that a wedding was on the cards.

Bhatt and Kapoor started dating in 2018 when they began filming for 'Brahmastra' together.

The film apparently is set in two timeframes. The main story is set in present times where Shiva, a young man with superpowers travels 3000 years back in time to learn about weapons like Brahmastra in order to fulfil a mission.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, produced by Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures, the magnum opus will release theatrically on September 9 in five Indian languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
