Amitabh Bachchan will be celebrating his 84th birthday on October 11. The Bollywood veteran has cemented a strong position in Bollywood, delivering nuanced performances and showcasing his versatility. While Big B currently resides in Jalsa, a two-storey, 10,125-sq ft luxury bungalow in Juhu, Mumbai, he spent most of his childhood in Allahabad. Amitabh also previously shared certain personal anecdotes from her time in the lavish bungalow, Suryabhedi Bhavan, located on Clive Road in Prayagraj.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Allahabad bungalow

According to a now-deleted video by a content creator, the Allahabad property, identified as bungalow number 17 is where Amitabh spent his younger days with his parents - father, renowned Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and mother Teji, cited News18.

The creator claimed that Amitabh lived in the bungalow on rent for 9 years and that the property has 10 doors. Even the architectural design has a special feature. The layout of the house is such that sunlight pierces through almost every corner.

As per a Reddit report, the bungalow later went to someone called ‘Tiwari’, and after his death, it went to an educational trust. Previously, in his blog post on Tumblr, Amitabh had recalled that his father renamed one part of the house as Dashadhwar because it had 10 doors.

In an X post, Amitabh stated that he never used to lock the doors of his Allahabad home and neither did he see anyone close the gate. They always remained open, indicating how safe it was.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Allahabad memories

In a past interview with The Hindu, Amitabh noted that he and his family had no cars back in Allahabad. Although his father had a bicycle, he was not allowed to ride it. Since there were no buses and he couldn’t afford a rickshaw, Amitabh used to walk to school. While returning, the megastar used to play with marbles in the dust and would get punished for it.
