Nana Patekar passed away today, October 8, at the age of 75. He was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, after suffering a cardiac arrest. Patekar, a National Award winner, has delivered some iconic roles in his career spanning decades. But despite the stardom, Patekar gave up a life of luxury and lived in the rural village of Khadakwasla, near Pune, committing to his farm life. During one of his past appearances in Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, he even asked Big B to live with him in the farmhouse.

Nana Patekar on living in village

Nana Patekar, in a conversation with Amitabh Bachchan, shared that he originally did not belong to the industry and came from a village. He only works in Mumbai and then returns to the village, claiming that the slow lifestyle makes him happy and at peace.

Addressing the audience at the premises, Nana Patekar told them that he even invited Amitabh Bachchan to stay with him in the village for a week, after Big B revealed that he works 12 hours a day.


Nana Patekar shares his village life routine

When Amitabh Bachchan asked Nana Patekar what a day in his life in the village looks like, the Krantiveer star revealed that he wakes up in the morning and performs exercises in his self-built gym. ‘I have two cows and a bull, no need for anything else—I'm the one who does it all,’ noted the actor.

Nana Patekar added that he cooks all of his meals and gave himself credit for being a great cook. Patekar continued that he is grateful for receiving so much love and appreciation from fans and that’s why his needs became simple.

Nana Patekar’s death saddens Bollywood

In the evening, Nana Patekar revealed that he spends his time reading books. ‘In the city, we have walls; in my village, I have mountains surrounding me, and I live right in the middle of it all,’ he shared, adding that there’s no alarm clock and the chirp of birds wakes him up and peacocks visit him too.
