Allu Arjun, Ram Charan didn't talk for 18 years, and it's because of one Bollywood actress. Who is she?

Ram Charan and Allu Arjun are not just box-office megastars; they're also cousins from two of Telugu cinema's most acclaimed dynasties. The RRR star belongs to the Mega family and Arjun to the Allu family, with their fathers, Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind, linked as brothers-in-law. Yet, earlier actions on social media have once sparked speculation of a rift between the two industry heavyweights. The duo didn't talk to each other for 18 years.

Both stars are celebrated nationwide. Ram Charan gained international acclaim through his performance in RRR, while Allu Arjun’s Pushpa made him pan-Indian appeal. Their success takes the legacy of their families forward, who have long dominated the Telugu film industry.

Few years ago, social media lit up when Ram Charan reportedly unfollowed Allu Arjun on Instagram. As per TOI, fans quickly picked up on the change, noting Charan still follows Arjun’s brother, Allu Sirish, and that Arjun traditionally follows only his wife, Sneha Reddy. These subtle social media moves reportedly fuelled rumours of tension within the families.

What triggered it?

While both Allu Arjun and Ram Charan are now settled in their personal lives with marriages and children, their past tells a different story. According to several reports, Allu Arjun was once romantically involved with actress Neha Sharma and had even considered marrying her.


Neha, who later made her Bollywood debut in Crook opposite Emraan Hashmi, initially stepped into the limelight through Telugu cinema. It was during her early days in the industry that she reportedly grew close to Arjun.

However, things took an unexpected turn when Neha starred opposite Ram Charan in Chirutha (2007), which marked the Telugu debut for both actors. During the shoot, speculations about a growing closeness between Neha and Ram Charan began surfacing. These reports didn’t sit well with Allu Arjun, especially as the man at the center of the rumours was not just a co-star, but his own cousin.


As per a report published by Navbharat Times, the revelation led to a serious fallout between the two actors. Sources claimed that what followed was a heated exchange, ultimately straining their relationship. Despite the passage of time, it appears the wounds have yet to heal, with the alleged rift between the cousins still unresolved to this day.

However, Ram Charan had once addressed the rumours about a secret marriage with Neha. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, he spoke about it during a television chat show, clarifying that he was already married and such rumours could affect his personal life. He explained that the speculation began right after his debut film Chirutha, with false stories about a secret wedding and honeymoon. At the time, his father advised him not to take the gossip seriously. Ram also mentioned that Upasana, who was just a friend back then and is now his wife, was aware these were baseless rumours. Even after their marriage, they made sure such talk never interfered in their relationship.

Family ties remain strong in public

Despite this, the Mega and Allu families continue to project unity. Neither Ram Charan nor Allu Arjun has commented directly on the unfollow episode. On the work front, Allu Arjun is currently filming for next film with Atlee and Deepika Padukone. On the other hand, Ram Charan is shooting for Peddi.
