For a star kid, stepping away from Bollywood could easily raise eyebrows, especially when his father is one of the industry's biggest names. But Akshay Kumar's son Aarav Bhatia appears to be taking a different route. Instead of entering films, Aarav is exploring fashion and is reportedly willing to start from the ground up. Akshay's comments about his son's choices also offer an interesting look at how the actor approaches parenting and career decisions.

Aarav chooses fashion instead of Bollywood

Akshay Kumar recently spoke about his son Aarav during a podcast conversation with Shubhankar Mishra. The actor revealed that Aarav has no plans to enter the film industry and is instead interested in fashion.

Unlike the glamorous career that his father has built over several decades, Aarav is choosing to understand his preferred field through practical experience. Akshay said his son is currently working for Rs 4,500, a detail that surprised the podcast host.

For Akshay, however, there appears to be nothing unusual about his son starting with a modest income. He believes that earning less at the beginning can still be valuable if the experience helps a young person understand their chosen profession.

Aarav is also travelling to villages as part of his fashion-related work. According to Akshay, his son is learning about different prints and other aspects of the craft by observing the work closely.

This approach means Aarav is not simply relying on his family's name or financial background to enter the industry at a high level. Instead, he appears to be learning through experience and beginning with basic work.

Akshay also pointed out that he and Aarav have some similarities. Both are interested in health, and the actor described his son as focused and someone who enjoys what he does.

Akshay gives his son space to choose

Aarav's decision is particularly interesting because he could have easily chosen Bollywood. Growing up as the son of Akshay Kumar and actor-author Twinkle Khanna means the film industry was already familiar to him.

However, Akshay has not suggested that his son should follow in his footsteps. His approach appears to be based on allowing Aarav to make his own career decisions.

The actor has previously spoken about his parenting style and said "I don't give lectures – not to anyone, especially not to my son. Just one thing: don't harm anybody. Don't hurt anyone. That's it. The rest, he should handle his own life."

Akshay's basic expectation is that Aarav should not hurt or harm anyone. Beyond that, he wants his son to have the freedom to make his own choices and take responsibility for them.

Aarav's career choice teaches a lesson that can be useful for parents, particularly those who have strong expectations about what their children should become.

Born in 2002, Aarav is the eldest child of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. He moved abroad at 15 for higher studies and is currently studying at a university in London. Unlike many star kids, he has generally stayed away from the limelight.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Welcome To The Jungle, which also stars Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. The film was released in theatres on June 26. He will next be seen in Haiwaan with Saif Ali Khan, which is scheduled to release on September 11, 2026.
