A kingdom ruled by women, powerful gangsters, and rivalries that threaten to alter the balance of power form the backdrop of Akka, the upcoming crime thriller starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. The newly released teaser introduces a fictional world where women dominate the streets and defend their territory, but the arrival of an outsider poses a threat to the established order. Now, the makers have unveiled the teaser along with release date.

Akka OTT release date and platform

Akka will premiere on Netflix on October 30, 2026. Produced by Yash Raj Films' YRF Entertainment, the series was announced in November 2023, while its first look was unveiled in February 2025. The project has been in development for a considerable period, and the teaser has now offered a glimpse of its setting, characters and central conflict.

Written and directed by debutant Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is described as a revenge thriller set in the 1980s. It explores a society where women hold positions of power and have built a system they are prepared to defend against anyone who challenges it.

According to the official synopsis, the story takes place in Pernuru, a fictional city in South India. The women who rule this place face an unfamiliar threat when an outsider enters their world, triggering a chain of violence and a struggle for survival.

Keerthy Suresh plays Bhavani, a central figure in this powerful world, while Radhika Apte portrays Rudra, whose arrival appears to challenge the established hierarchy.

Speaking about her role, Keerthy described, "Bhavani is one of the most unique and memorable characters I have had the opportunity to play. It was lovely working with Radhika. Our characters bring such compelling dynamics to the story and the interplay between them adds an intriguing edge to the narrative."

Radhika, meanwhile, said she was drawn to Rudra's complexity. She described the character as, "Rudra is a fascinating character, driven by her own convictions and an instinct to challenge the world around her. What drew me to the series was the complexity of its characters and the tensions that emerge from their differing perspectives."
