Aishwarya Rai Bachchan pays loving tribute to late father on his birth anniversary

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan paid a touching tribute to her late father Krishnaraj Rai on his birthday anniversary. The ‘Ponniyin Selvan I’ star uploaded a selfie of herself and her daughter Aaradhya posing in front of his picture. Both the mother and daughter are clad in white. Bachchan also wrote a message for him. “Prayers and Love in Remembrance. Happy Birthday, dearest darling Daddyyy-Ajjaaa. Love Love and more Love Always. God Bless.” Fans and well-wishers also dropped in to leave birthday wishes to Rai. “Happy birthday to you dad god is good and blessed,” wrote an Instagram user. Rai was an Army biologist by profession.

The actress who is known to be a hands-on mother was recently trolled when she uploaded a picture of her kissing daughter Aaradhya on the lips. Many trolls verbally attacked the actress on Instagram and accused her of ‘’being obscene’’. The superstar is normally known to be reticent and media-shy, but when it comes to her daughter, she is known to be very vocal and gushy. Her PDA with Aaradhya has often made the ‘Devdas’ star a favourite target of trolls.

On the work front, Bachchan is currently basking on the humongous success of ‘Ponniyin Selvan I’. In the movie, Bachchan essays dual roles with the first being Nandini - Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar's wife and Aditha Karikalan's love interest. The other is Nandini's mute mother, Mandakini Devi. Bachchan’s nuanced portrayal of the vengeful Nandini who is hell-bent on settling scores with Aditha Karikalan (played by Vikram) who killed her paramour was received with much critical acclaim. The film also stars Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.


This epic period drama helmed by Mani Ratnam minted Rs 500 crore worldwide in 50 days. The movie marked Bachchan’s reunion with her mentor Ratnam, under whose guidance she had begun her film career. Rai made her big-screen debut with Ratnam’s political drama ‘Iruvar’ in 1997. The movie also marks her reunion with her ‘Raavanan’ and ‘Raavan’ co-star Vikram. She will next be seen in the ‘Pooniyin Selvan’ sequel. The movie will release in 2023.
