It was a terrific Thursday for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League. After a patchy start to the tournament where the present champions have seen a spate of defeats, the game against Mumbai Indians brought some cheer, after all.

And the architect of the win, was, again Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The former CSK captain rose to the occasion and clinched a win, thanks to a last-ball boundary. A vintage Dhoni struck four boundaries in the last 4 balls of the game - CSK needed 17 off the final over bowled by Jaydev Unadkat.

Captain Cool steered CSK to success with the final-over win. A CSK win meant that MI - led by Rohit Sharma - failed to open their account this season so far. MI have played seven games, and lost all.

Dhoni's unbeaten 28 off 13 balls won the game for CSK, and saved the day for captain Ravindra Jadeja who admitted that it was a "tense" situation. At the post-match conference, Jadeja acknowledged Dhoni's contribution.

For others, MSD's contribution was reminiscent of the good ol' days. Former cricketer Krisnamachari Srikkanth called him the greatest of all finishers ever, and expressed hope that it will be more of the yellow brigade in action here on.

Shivam Sharma, who is a part of the Kings XI Punjab squad, hailed MSD's thriller finish as a "never ending love story," while Amit Mishra wrote that "once a finisher, always a finisher." Former India cricketer Wassim Jaffer felt that "legends use the same gameplan" for 10+ years.

Meanwhile, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra also paid a special tribute to Dhoni with his word-play. He said he was glad that the company's brand name begins with 'Mahi'.

"Well, all I can say is that I’m glad we have the letters MAHI in Mahi-ndra," he wrote.
