After a Texan Deepika dosa; should we now ask for a Ran-beer?
To a red-hot dosa, won’t the right accompaniment be cool Ran-beer?

Hopefully, the display in 2019 of a menu with the eponymous south Indian crêpe — a gluten-free, dairy-free vegan IT meal in the west now — will not provoke 2018-type cries of commodification and misogyny, though allusions to the top actor’s south Indian roots, ultra-thin silhouette and crisp manner will be inevitable, given the dosa’s remarkably similar attributes. Surely, it is not coincidental that the Deepidosa (to coin a word) also happens to be super-hot, albeit thanks to a stuffing of potato and bhut jolokia chillies.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's intimate Lake Como wedding was just what bridal dreams are made of. Hosted over a period of three days, with only close family and friends in attendance, the festivities began with a mehendi function, followed by the couple taking their vows in two separate ceremonies - a Konkani and a Sindhi one - over the next two days as a mark of respect to their lineage.
The pictures from their wedding, that have gone viral, show the 'Padmaavat' actors looking oh-so-in-love and acing the bridal fashion game.
Deepika Padukone looked like a dream in a blush pink Chinkaari kurta surrounded by pink roses with Lake Como in the background for her traditional mehendi ceremony. She completed the look with a deep red shawl and jewellery that included a maharani haar. The 'Piku' actress opted for a nude make-up look with a small bindi.
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee who dressed the actress for the function described it as 'a very traditional Indian mehendi - right from the clothes to the divine music to the absolutely spectacular food'. He went on to add that while the weather conditions were less than ideal with two days of rain just before, the sun came out on the day of the mehendi.
Ranveer Singh was a picture of happiness as he danced during the mehendi ceremony. The dapper actor opted for a printed angarkha and maroon jacket by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. He completed the look with vintage sunglasses.
The actors' mothers, Ujjala Padukone and Anju Bhavnani, and sisters, Anisha and Ritika, were all dressed in outfits by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. They couple's picture with the women in their lives looks just perfect for a bridal campaign.
For the Konkani wedding ceremony, Deepika wore a pure gold zari Kanjivaram brocade silk saree gifted by her mother Ujjala Padukone. As per tradition, the bride wears an outfit bought by the mother.
Reportedly, the actress and her mum picked out the red saree with Gandaberunda (a two-headed bird) motifs from Bengaluru's Angadi Galleria. It was styled for the ceremony by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee who added a tissue Kanjeevaram veil, and completed the look with traditional jewellery.
Padukone opted for dark kohl-rimmed eyes and nude lips, and sported a floral bun with layers of gajra.
Ranveer Singh was a traditional South Indian groom for the Konkani wedding in a white and gold kurta and dhoti by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
For the Anand Karaj ceremony, Padukone looked resplendent in a red and gold Sabyasachi lehenga. The actress covered her head with a dupatta that had the incantation ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ on the border.
She completed her look with heavy traditional jewellery including a big maatha tika and earrings. A gold nose ring, chooda, and kalire transformed her to a gorgeous North Indian bride. The only thing similar about Padukone's two wedding looks was that the actress styled her hair in a floral bun.
Ranveer Singh complemented his bride in a red and gold Kanjeevaram sherwani by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The actor keep his look regal wearing strings of rubies, a jadau neckpiece, and a turban for the Anand Karaj.
The newlyweds hosted the first of their three receptions in the country at The Leela hotel in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Padukone looked radiant in Advaya pure zari gold Kanjivaram silk saree, gifted to her by her mother and bought from Angadi Galleria. Designed by K Radharaman, the saree was one of the two purchased by Ujjala Padukone from the store - the actress wore the first saree for her Konkani wedding ceremony.
The 'Piku' actress, who paired the saree with a white blouse, was styled by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She completed her look with a pearl necklace, an emerald choker, matching earrings, and chooda. Padukone opted for dark kohl-rimmed eyes, and a floral bun with layers of gajra.
Ranveer Singh looked dapper in a black, embroidered Rohit Bal sherwani with juttis to match.
This peppy, thin Texan dosa sounds a way batter option than the paratha thali named after her in a Pune restaurant. Particularly since it is nothing short of serendipitous that her ancestral village happens to be in the very district of Karnataka whose name has become a byword for outlets serving slap-up versions of the dosa across India: Udupi. All that the delectable Deepidosa needs is a cool, frothy accompaniment — perhaps a Ran-beer?
The Ambanis, Bachchans, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Hrithik Roshan, Shilpa Shetty, Rani Mukerji, among others attended the star-studded event in Grand Hyatt Mumbai.
